About Barbara

Barbara is a designer, educator and community advocate. She earned her BFA from OCAD University, a national and global leader in art and design. Barbara served as an educator at the Royal Ontario Museum and exhibited her work in Toronto as an emerging artist. Her sharp eye for detail and problem solving have guided both her design career and her approach to community advocacy.

Since relocating with her family from Toronto to Ottawa, Barbara has planted strong roots in the vibrant community of Orléans, launching her business, Design By BDG, and fostering connections through community engagement and volunteerism. In 2024, Barbara was honoured as a recipient of the Orléans Leading Women And Girls Recognition Award for her passion, dedication and positive impact on the community.

As a parent and steadfast advocate for community safety, Barbara coordinates the Fallingbrook Neighbourhood Watch Program and serves as an active member of the East Ottawa Neighbourhood Watch Program Committee.

Barbara is a relationship builder. Whether inspiring clients through design or leading volunteer service in her community, Barbara’s dedication and personal satisfaction derive from the belief that one person’s commitment can lead to broader engagement and positive change.
